The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center - Seattle

Facelift surgery in Seattle Washington offered by facial plastic surgeon Dr William Portuese.A facelift will not stop the aging process; however, it can tighten loose facial and neck muscle structure, remove fat in the neck and tighten loose facial and neck skin; which in turn create a more youthful appearance.

Dr. Portuese, a board certified Facial Plastic Surgeon can perform a facelift by itself or in conjunction with other procedures, such as Blepharoplasty (eyelid) or Rhinoplasty (nose) surgery. An excellent candidate is an adult in good health who has facial & neck laxity, and/or jowls have begun to show signs of aging.

The average age of a patient having a facelift ranges between 55 to 65, but occasionally we will see patients well into their seventies.Typically, facelift surgeries will last about three hours with additional time allowed for recovery. A facelift in performed under a general anesthetic.

Additional Information

Chin implants are used to improve the balance in facial features and are specifically designed for patients with a weak chin profile. There are many types and shapes of implants available from different manufacturers using a variety of materials. Materials commonly used in our practice are Silastic. Chin implants help improve a weak chin profile for better facial balance and proportions.

Surgical placement of a chin implant is through an incision approximately 3/4 inch long on the under side of the chin. A pocket will be created over the bone for the implant. The appropriate sized chin implant is then placed inside the pocket. Once the implant is in position, the skin will be closed with sutures. Typically there is some bruising and swelling around the chin area for a week to ten days following this procedure. This procedure can be done under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia.

The aging process encompasses the effects of gravity, sun exposure and the stresses of daily life begin to show on a persons face as they age. Creases form between the nose and the mouth, jowls begin to form, and neck muscles loosen becoming prominent and form what are called “bands”. Fatty deposits can also appear in the neck which also becomes more prominent as the aging process progresses.

Product and Services

The nose is one of the most defining characteristics of the face. Nasal reshaping and contouring involves performing a three dimensional surgery to bring harmonious balance with the rest of the facial features. Rhinoplasty is performed by Dr. William Portuese on a diverse age group (16 through 80) to reshape and sculpt the nose to a natural new nose that fits the facial features on the individual patient.

Interestingly, a subtle change or a seemingly large change can make an aesthetic difference for the patients’ desired outcome, however the change of the nose is not typically detected by others. In addition, Dr. Portuese performs the Closed Rhinoplasty Technique, so the incisions are placed on the inside of the nose. Rhinoplasty is performed under a general anesthetic.

Following rhinoplasty surgery, there is a 10% chance that a small revision touch-up may be needed. This would be performed when a significant amount of healing has taken place – typically not before 6-12 months following the initial surgery. Dr. Portuese does not charge an additional surgical fee for this procedure, however anesthesia would have a small touch up fee.

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is offered by board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr William Portuese. Blepharoplasty or Eyelid surgery can be done by itself or in conjunction with other facial procedures, such as a facelift or rhinoplasty (nose) surgery.

Cosmetic eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is done to improve the appearance of the upper or lower eyelids. The primary goal of upper eyelid surgery – blepharoplasty is to remove mostly excess skin and a little fat, whereas the goal of the lower eyelid surgery is to remove mostly excess fat and a little skin. The fat in the lower eyelids is a genetic trait and is referred to by many as “Puffiness”. Excess skin on the upper lids creates the “Tired” look. Typically, patients will say that they look tired and older than they feel when they look in the mirror.
